Snap up Lullaby Gown

I have finally finished Christmas sewing and am ready to show you guys the snap up lullaby gown hack. It’s not really a hack per say but merging two awesome patterns to make the perfect little gown for a heart baby.

The two patterns I used were the lullaby line snap up pajamas and the lullaby line baby gown both by Peekaboo Pattern Shop. The fabric on the one pictured is also from Peekaboo. It is one of her custom knits.

I used the pattern pieces from the snap up pajamas (eliminating the leg cut out and just continuing straight down the fold on the back) and the front pieces I continued down to the 18 month length on the back piece for this one then lined up the underarm to get the length for the main front and side front pieces.

Follow steps 1-8 on the instructions for the snap up pajamas. Then move on to steps 12 & 13. Now it is time to finish the bottom. I like to add a band to the bottom.

Measure the length of the bottom of your gown. Multiply that by 0.85 then add 0.5 inches. On the 3 month size I got 17.42 so I rounded that up to 17.5 then added a half inch for seam allowances on the ends. My band piece was 3″ by 18″. Iron scraps of interfacing on both ends of the band. This will help reinforce the fabric where the snaps go.

Fold the band bringing the long sides together so that right sides are together and sew or serge both short ends then flip right side out pushing out the corners. This makes your band 1.5″ x 17.5″ for the 3 month gown.
Pin (or wonder clip as I prefer) the band to the bottom of the gown on both ends and in the middle right sides together and stretch the band slightly to fit the gown. Flip the band down and topstitch the seam to the gown using a double needle or stretch stitch.
